As mentioned in the last post we checked out the NAIAS 2006 last weekend. I was quite disturbed when I saw the 2007 Jeep Wrangler. I currently have a 2004 Rubicon that I absolutely love.

Anyway, the new jeep, first impressions
1. Front end reminds me of the grocery getter (Liberty) more than the Wrangler.
2. Door handles all look like crap.
3. The square doors are going to look HORRIBLE with the top off.
4. Too wide
5. Too long (I also dislike the Unlimited jeeps they have now)
6. The interior wasn’t too cool either. When is jeep going to remember that people drive with the tops off and sometimes are out in the rain (or maybe snow) and the radio shouldn’t be sticking out the furthest from the dash nor be the thing at the top of the dash? I think the last time this was right was with the CJ?
7. Yuck on the fog lights
Overall it looks like they are trying to produce the H6 or something. I bought my jeep because the only Hummer worth having is over $100,000 and plus the jeep is nice and small and great for offroad. The bigger the 4×4 the harder it is to get through the woods without destroying everything. As you can see from the picture, I like 4×4’s. I have a true offroad warrior, the jeep, and I have an H2 killer, my Dodge 2500 Power Wagon. Mostly the 2500 is for busting through the snow we sometimes get here in Michigan and to feel safe when surrounded by boneheads on the roads. Though I have no problem taking the 2500 off road, just would only do it if I don’t care if I tear the place up because that is what it does, I’ve done it. The jeep will sneak through and you may not even know I came through.
The new jeep may have a bunch of cool specs and things but to me it is ugly when you look closely at it if you are as familiar with the TJ as I am. I am sorry to see the end of the TJ line.

[...] Interestingly, I didn’t realize it until I took a picture today for the blog, but the side of the case (I prefer the side color to the front color) is almost the same color as my jeep rubicon which is fun. [...]

Amen. I totally agree with joe. they completely disgraced the Wrangler with the 07 model. The wrangler has kept its look very well since the CJ’s, until now. It’s no longer about the off-road scene, but more on the family SUV thats not so much off-road purpose built. I own a 2001 Wrangler Sport that is awsome fun that the 07 wrangler could never compare to
