LinkedIn

Do you know LinkedIn? If not, there’s nothing more for you to see here, move along…
So I am generally quite slow to use the various websites that try to connect you to other folks but have been known to sign up for one or two occasionally such as classmates.com just to see what the hubbub is [...]

More Vista 5365 news…

by @ Sunday, April 30th, 2006. Filed under tech

More Vista 5365 news
So I couldn’t get sound on my HP DV8000 with the 64 bit version of Vista. There were no 64 bit drivers for the sound card and even the ones that were for other devices that theoretically should have worked didn’t. So I reloaded with the 32 bit version and while it [...]

What is up with the MSNBot?

Many will look at that subject and go huh? Those with websites will tend to know what I am saying, well one exception in my mind is a good friend of mine who has a website but doesn’t look at logs. Hi buddy!

So anyway, I am looking at my web stats to see [...]

More on my sister’s artwork

by @ Sunday, April 30th, 2006. Filed under general

You will recall the artwork I put up on the blog previously.
The link below is to a ”movie” of the steps the drawing went through from the original pictures arranged on a piece of paper to the rough drawings to the slow filling out of all sections of the drawing to the completed project. This should clear up [...]

ExchMbx 1.4.0 released

by @ Saturday, April 29th, 2006. Filed under updates

Ok, after much delay, the new version of ExchMbx has been released. The main update here is that it now works to move mailboxes again on Exchange Server 2003 SP2. The Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 SP2 update had a nice “fix” where the Exchange Dev Team broke the mailbox interface contract by changing the parameters [...]

BCE/CE versus BC/AD

by @ Saturday, April 29th, 2006. Filed under rants

I just heard about this controversy, people wanting to rename BC (Before Christ) to BCE (Before Common Era) and AD (Anno Domini - (in the) year of the lord) to CE (Common Era)….
Is this really something worth worrying about or worse, spending money on? Does it really matter at all? I think it lost any religious significance a [...]

Ten Commandments

by @ Friday, April 28th, 2006. Filed under quotes

The Ten Commandments are for lame brains. The first five are solely for the benefit of the priests and the powers that be; the second five are half truths, neither complete nor adequate.

Hi Mom!

by @ Friday, April 28th, 2006. Filed under general

My mom reads the blog and I just wanted to say hi to her.
I figure it was an easy way to make her smile and smiling is critically important, both for the person smiling and the people who get to just sit back and look at it.   (a)

ExchMbx status

by @ Thursday, April 27th, 2006. Filed under tech

Ok… So this is a bit weird.
Supposedly the MoveMailbox CDOEXM method cannot be used to move mailboxes across administrative groups until you get Exchange 2003 SP2 installed and specially call the method with the proper parameters… I am not finding that to be true with ExchMbx. I can use an old or new version of [...]

Vista Build 5365 (beta 2)

by @ Thursday, April 27th, 2006. Filed under tech

Well I just completed loading Vista Build 5365 (beta 2) on my HP DV8000…
Huge improvements over build 5342. For starters the installation maybe took 80 minutes which is drammatically faster and obviously the installation looks much better. The build still doesn’t set up my sound card yet though which is a trifle annoying, I will [...]

Kelly Pickler got voted off American Idol tonight. Wow. I was quite shocked even though she hasn’t sung great the last two weeks.
She wasn’t my favorite but I truly expected her to be in the top three based on her charisma alone. Certainly I think she should have outlasted Paris, Elliot, and Taylor. It may be [...]

Oh well, it appears it will be released to web Q4 [...]

ExchMbx update coming soon…

by @ Tuesday, April 25th, 2006. Filed under tech

I have been working on updating ExchMbx so that MoveMailbox works under Exchange Server 2003 SP2. I also added a switch to enable the new Cross Administrative Group capability that is there. I am hoping to release it in the next week or before May 1 since I kept saying I should have it done [...]

GRRR! Update 2 (resolved) or I am really slow but sometimes that is a good thing…

Virtual Server 2003 R2 Upgrade

by @ Monday, April 10th, 2006. Filed under tech

Questions to Microsoft:
 1. When I upgraded Virtual Server 2003 to Virtual Server 2003 R2 why did I have to upgrade the Virtual Machine additions individually on each and every single guest? Shouldn’t it have been enough to say, upgrade all of these for me?
 2. Why did it take two reboots?

The research, published today in Science magazine, provides an evolutionary path for the intricate “lock-and-key” relationship between a [...]
