Buying a house? Need the best mortgage broker/banker/<insert title here> in existence?

by @ 12:25 pm on 8/20/2007. Filed under house stuff

Then you want my Mortgage friend.

Brandy Belcher with Quicken Loans / Rock Financial.

If you are looking to buy a home, refi a home, whatever, call her, she will make your life good. Absolutely amazing. I am pretty sure she can finance you regardless of where you are, not just in Michigan. Outstanding personality as well.

I had one loan set up to get my new house and then she kept poking around while the sellers did whatever it is that sellers do and she actually found an even better loan which shaved another .7% or so off my rate. How many mortgage bankers are going to do that? Once they have you sold, bam, next. I admit, I am a charming guy and people want to help me out when they can, but I think she would do that for anyone, not just me. Oh also, she is a pet lover… She has 4 dogs and she actually has coats she puts on two of them to go out in the rain… You know she is a good, if not weird, person just for that…

I’ve just gone through the somewhat harrowing experience myself of looking for a house loan. You’re lucky you have someone like Brandy; most times, these flesh eating bacteria do what they can to rip you off.
The best bet is to get info from three sources: two brokers and one bank (preferably a local bank). Do this, let them all know you’re doing this and you’ll get a really good offer, guaranteed. Unless your credit sucks, that is. If so, you probably shouldn’t be buying a house anyway.
    Congrats.

Never contact a broker. They make the most off you. You want to only speak to direct lenders.

    Is she hot?

  4. joe says:

Bobblehead… Ummm how do I say this… Hot isn’t generally one of my criteria for finding folks to handle my financials. Certainly that is great criteria for a date, but to choose folks handling your money on that point may be a trifle shortsighted. 🙂 “Yes, I would like to see your interest rates for a 30 year conventional as well as a face, full body, and bikini shot please….”

  5. Fred says:

Except for banks (who usually, unbeknownst to you are almost always “brokers”) good luck getting to speak to direct lenders, Brandy.

Hey Joe, I’m looking for a good LDAP book, any ideas?

  6. joe says:

Fred: I think there are only a few direct lenders. They may or may not specialize in home mortgages. That is why I went to Quicken/Rock Financial. I used them when I got my first house and was pleased, I used them for my refi which was through Brandy and I was very pleased. Now I am using them for my new mortgage and I am very pleased with that as well.

If you haven’t looked at your mortgage in a bit, it may be worth pinging Brandy and seeing what she can do for you.

  7. Fred says:

Joe: Let’s see, it’s been about two months since I got my mortgage so Brandy will have to wait a while longer! 😉

How about it for a good LDAP book? I probably have or know all the “normal” ones (including the ORA one), but thought you may know some hidden gem, like the Windows Security Fundamentals. Great, great book, thanks for the reco.

  8. joe says:

Fred: Actually nope… Nothing I can think of, it is a pretty popular question too. The O’Reilly one is the only one that actually comes to mind and that isn’t the greatest.

If I can ever get back to it, the AdFind/Admod book I was working on actually had a lot of the basic LDAP stuff going into it to get people going as a majority of the questions I get are LDAP based, not questions about the tools.
