So I am watching TV the other day and there is a Saturn commercial raving how great a couple of their cars are and how “green” they are because they get 30 MPG on the highway… My Mustang GT gets 21-22 MPG when I am racing around town with the top down which includes doing 0-60MPH tests regularly. When I am driving on the highway I am 27-31MPG and have seen it as high as 36-38MPG if I am able to just set cruise and go solid for an hour, again with the top down. So some little wimpy no-go car that is sealed up like a submarine getting 30MPG… That doesn’t impress me.
I am watching the Hell’s Kitchen episodes… yes yes I know Christina won (should have been Petrozza but Chef Gordon wanted someone he could mold in his image)… Anyway, I am watching the episodes I didn’t see previously and one thing just keeps popping up in my head. These people are all going for allegedly one of the best Chef positions available and it seems many of them shouldn’t even be in a kitchen. How many times have I seen steaks that go out nearly raw[1], fish that isn’t cooked, desserts that are cooked on the outside only, etc etc etc. Plus all of that touching of the food with their bare hands and tasting of the dishes and on and on and on and it makes me leery to go out anywhere, even really nice places to eat.
Battle Star Galactica… WTF. Seriously… WTF.
The TV Show Wipeout… Hilarious. John Henson never seems to tire of saying “Balls”. Giant Balls, Giant Red Balls, Muddy Balls, you name it, John likes balls or at least likes saying balls.
The TV Show The Mole… I am thinking Nicole… I was starting to think Alex and then BAM, he is gone. Other possible option for me is Craig.
Eureka… It starts next week wooo. Love that show.
American Idol - I have 40 episodes to watch, haven’t seen any but from what I have heard I am actually considering just deleting everything after the Final 12 are selected.
So You Think You Can Dance - haven’t watched any of these yet either.
Fear Itself - Kudos… the Twilight Zone of the 00’s. You can see the full episodes on NBC.COM if you want.
I miss Stargate SG1.
Watching the Sarah Connor Chronicles makes me think one thing… I want FireFly back.

[1] I have one close friend who would like this very much. She, YES SHE, likes her steaks rare and by that, I mean the definition you see in the menu which is cool red center or even cold red center. If there is any juice on that steak, it is overcooked. If the center is warm in the slightest, it is overcooked. If it isn’t blood red in the center, it is overcooked. She will actually ask for extra rare but is lucky to get an actual rare steak. The cooks seem afraid to do it and this is in good steak houses, not like Red Lobster or Denny’s or something… She will then send the overcooked steak back and then I think the cooks are like… she wants rare, we will show her rare, and then they send it out extra extra rare… and she starts smiling because that is exactly how she wanted it. I have NEVER seen her even consider sending back a steak for being too rare, not sure she can visualize a too-rare. If it is brown on the outside even a little, she is fine with it. She once asked me if I would cook a steak on the grill for her… No way. I couldn’t get close to how she likes it I don’t think.

Really, I agree with your female friend. The fire should just kiss the meat and be done with it.
