As I spin down from yet another meaningless hectic month I have come to the conclusion that this simple country red-neck hick boy[1] has had enough.
As much fun as it is to run around with your hair on fire and having no time to spend on exactly what you want to spend it on and in exactly the way you want to spend it and wondering how much trouble you are going to get into for something you said or did because it doesn’t align with someone else’s perspective of what you should be doing and saying, all good things must come to an end.
Effective immediately, joeware is done.
I will let the site remain in place and allow downloads for the length of time the hosting holds out (about two years) at which point joeware will cease to exist except as a DNS alias which will die in something like 10 years. Unfortunately I will not be receiving nor trying to receive emails nor will I be providing updates. In fact, I will be selling off nearly everything including all of my electronic equipment, media, books, etc and stopping only at keeping my Heinlein and Adams collections so I can purchase and move to the LOTR compound built for Edoras in New Zealand and enjoy a much simpler and fuller life.
I intend to be completely out of contact with most of the world. I hope that occasionally Tony Murray will put stop by with a nice bottle of wine and maybe a cracker or two and regale me with stories of the outside world and allow me to show him how I was able to stack 14 rocks together into a meaningful pattern. No other MVPs will be allowed, no offense but you guys just don’t know when to stop talking tech and quite frankly in a world where you are banging rocks together to get fire, who really cares about GPRS and push technology?
My great technological achievement will be to build a fountain in the middle of the compound that I can stare at from the comfort of a nice hammock swinging gently in the breeze. Oh yeah, I guess I will have to figure out how to make the nice hammock too; I’ll have to google that info before I leave.
I will use this down time to contemplate the nature of being and try to find the one ultimate question which results in the one ultimate answer about life the universe and everything.
