So here I am converting CDs to MP3s, I have mediaplayer to just start converting any CD inserted and then to spit the disk out when done. About 5 times now as I am digging through my big CD bin the CD gets kicked out almost immediately and I am like, darn it, don’t screw up. In each case, the system already knew it burned the CD, I had multiple copies of several CDs and by copies I mean original store bought copies. Doh!
I am now at 3205 songs and ~12GB.
I feel your pain. A few months ago I decided to rip all of my CDs. I never did get through it, but I did manage to accumulate 22.1GBs of music and a total of 4996 songs. I do hope to finish my CDs at some point.
The other thing that I have learnt is to back them up. Seriously, spend the cash on an extra hard drive. Just imagine having to rip them all again (I’m talking from experience unfortunatly).
Note: I just had some browser problems – I hope it didn’t post twice.
Oh yes, backup is at the top of my mind. I have lots of spinning disk in the house, these files are sitting on 3 different PCs plus will be getting burned to DVD as well in MP3 format.
Thanks for the important reminder though.
