I was contacted this afternoon by a gentleman who was trying to download adfind and kept getting an error message saying
Internet Explorer was not able to open this internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found
Well due to recent issues with the ISP I really made sure it was working and sure enough it was. So I asked for details and peeked at the logs.
Once I saw the logs I was pretty sure I knew what was going on when I saw a bunch of downloads of ADFIND from the same IP address with a browser marked as IE7. Obviously someone was trying over and over again. Interestly enough, each time, the website indicated it had sent all of the bytes for the ZIP file to the client.
When the user got back to me, he indicated that it was the latest beta of IE7 that was the problem, when he didn’t use that it worked fine.
I don’t have time right now to confirm this issue, I have the beta laying around but before I get to that I will be playing with the Longhorn and E12 betas as they are actually exciting to me. However I wanted to let folks know in case they see download issues on my site or on others and are using IE7.
