A friend sent me an email the other day that had this KB mentioned

http://support.microsoft.com/?id=327270

SQL Server 2000 is not supported on Windows Server 2003 Terminal Server application server

It gives you info about the problem but doesn’t actually tell you why there is a problem at all. Why thanks for telling me how to determine if TS is loaded, now why doesn’t it work? TS isn’t really new is it? Do you *plan* on fixing it? Check out this note from the KB

SQL Server 2005 is not supported on Windows Server 2003 Terminal Server.

Come on. What is this crap? Sure, who is going to run a SQL Server on a TS, no one would want to do that would they? And as we all know SQL Server isn’t used for anything but big business SQL DBs….

Oh wait…

This behavior also occurs when you try to install Microsoft Windows Server Updates Service on a computer that is running Windows Server 2003 or Windows 2000 Server. The installation of the instance of Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine (Windows) (WMSDE) fails with the same errors.

Outstanding!
