Over the years I have learned that weather pressure changes aren’t good to me. When there is a large differential in the pressure I have been at and what it is changing too I tend to get headaches and in some case various other body aches from all the broken bones I acquired through my childhood (well and some college,post-college breaks…). A huge drop in pressure and I am a wreck; my ankles, wrists, neck, back and head all feel horrendous and if it is bad enough I even get dizzy and nauseous. A friend of mine turned me onto some stuff called Quercitin which does help out. Overall though, this sucks.
As you can probably guess, it is a joy for me to fly as well, I tend to plug up for at least a day or two after flying, especially short flights like say Detroit to Washington DC where you go up and come right back down. I have had occasions where my ears don’t completely clear for a couple of weeks. Yes that really sucks. I have found taking some sort of head clearing type meds an hour before flying helps out here though and that has been my secret for the last 5-10 years. Claritin-D really helps out well.
So this morning at like 6AM I shoot out of bed with my head bursting. I am thinking, great low pressure front moving in. Slam 4 advil and go back to sleep. When it was time to work my head still was hurting, slammed more advil. By the point I would get the edge off I was also pretty much worthless for work (Don’t design Enterprise size environments on drugs I always say…) so I only worked a few hours pushing through any critical emails I had to deal with though I will try to catch up on the rest of the email tonight (the perfect Friday night yeah?).
I have met a few other folks through the years that have the same issue with pressure fronts. How about you?
Do you mostly get bothered when the pressure goes up or goes down? I know both sorts.
Do you have a headaches during both but worse when one over the other or maybe one happens you get a headache and during the other you overall body aches?
Confirmed: Joe is a wierdo. 🙂
Actually, living in Idaho, I’m used to pressure changes (oh yes, and I love flying).
Yes I am, I never argue with people when they say I am. 🙂
I love flying, just not the pressure changes and people.
