Ok… So anyone read or at least have the Active Directory Cookbook? If so, give me your feedback. I have tentatively agreed to do the third edition of it since it won’t be out until the late 2008 (I don’t have time to do AD 4E unfortunately as the schedule is far more agressive) so I wanted to start gathering input and ideas on what you think is
a) wrong with the cookbook
b) would be good in the cookbook
Let me know what you think. My best work is done when I get the feedback from you guys up front and you know I want to put something out that we can all be proud of.

Joe,
Although I have not read the Active Directory Cookbook, I have read Active Directory 3rd edition from O’Reilly and that was a great reference. More details on generic LDAP as well as integration tools would be beneficial. More in depth ADAM knowledge would be great too. Sorry for not reading the Cookbook yet.

a brand new jail script would be awsome.
Looks like I’ll be adding another book to my Amazon pre-order list. I really like the Cookbook series.
I can’t really point to anything being wrong with the cookbook. I like the way most recopies have multiple ways of doing a task. That helps us GUI admins that you love learn command line. 🙂
I think a chapter on troubleshooting may be good to have. There are recipes for logging but maybe roll those up into one bigger troubleshooting chapter.
A section on server core would be good. I’m not sure if you are going to include power shell commands in there but that may be helpful to.
Let me know if you are looking for people to test any of the recipies or scripts. I’d be happy to volunteer my services. Just let me know.
if you need a reviewer, I’ll be glad to review
