A couple of my coworkers live in New Hampshire and have been without power since last week due to the ice storms. One of them has come up with a creative method for keeping his work computer and Internet up and running… A few marine batteries (from a trolling motor if I recall correctly) and a power inverter to run the laptop and cable modem…
On a team conference call Dave was asked about how it was going without power and he said, and I quote… “At least I have Internet….” LOL.
We had a similar outage in 1998 in Montreal. I was 15 days without power…so we charged the laptops in the car and then used dial-up internet..this setup looks more convenient !
As for heat, we had natural gas so that was fine, but the fan was electrical…so we rigged it to a stationary bike with a long strap and took turns !
