The content of the magazine article notwithstanding, there is a greater philosophy here, one that I wish Microsoft were a lot better at: don’t do everything, do a few things well.
I’ll take the more severe route and say: don’t do everything, do ONE thing well. It’s struck me even harder the longer I work with Microsoftia: in trying to be everything to everyone, Microsoft has ended up not being anything to anyone.
