I was sitting here going through bills and was going slow since I had nothing pressing other than the fact I haven’t looked at the bills in a long time and realized that Consumers Energy charges me a customer charge of $7.50 for nothing other than simply being a customer. On top of that, they charge me for the amount of natural gas I consume and the delivery of it. It kind of bothers me that I have to pay money just to have the option to be their customer. I don’t pay Mobil so I can drive my truck over there and fill it up with their fuel.
So I recall that there was something done previously so you could switch the company you got your natural gas from. Found out that while yes you can get it from some other company, it is still delivered by Consumers Energy and so they still charge me delivery as well as that same customer charge. My options are limited to using some other energy source than natural gas.
Now if the gas company was owned by Microsoft, there would be one hell of a lawsuit going on somewhere. At least with MS I don’t have to pay money just to have the option to pay more to actually get product.
You are lucky You are not living in Poland 🙂 whe it comes to such bills – for example when I’m paying my natural gas bill half of the amount is only for transfering the natural gas, and the other half is for the gas itself.
Yeah it works out that the cost of the actual natural gas I used (11ccf) cost $8.37. Delivery and customer charge were $9.30. So the actual natural gas was ~47% of the total cost.
