Misc “The Office” Quotes

Angela: Any problems?

Dwight: Well you left the TV on and your cat is dead. She’s in a better place. Actually, the place that she’s in is the freezer. Because of the odor.

Angela: I have this crazy thought, that I know is crazy, that maybe Dwight killed my cat. When I got home, Sprinkles’ body was in the freezer where Dwight said he left her, but all my bags of frozen french fries had been clawed to shreds.

Dwight: With the electricity we’re using to keep Meridith alive, we could power a small fan for two days. You tell me what’s unethical.

Michael: Is there a god? If not, what are all these churches for? And who is Jesus’s dad?

Still alive, just under water

by @ 12:03 pm. Filed under general

Howdy, I have gotten several emails the last couple of days containing questions of

  • was I alive|dead|ok?
  • can I have your source code if you are dead?
  • how’s the house?
  • how come you don’t post technical stuff anymore?
  • hey have you seen what the AFA has been doing lately?
  • how’s the car?
  • you playing much Halo 3?
  • why are you a total knee biter ya wanker?
  • heard you are speaking at DEC again next year, what are you speaking about?
  • if a train leaves San Francisco at 25 MPH and another train leaves New York at 65 MPH, what kind of tea are they serving?
  • how come CPAU doesn’t accept UPN format userids?
  • hey I know you were working on new versions of AdMod and AdFind, why haven’t you published them already?
  • I heard you got fired again… is this true?

The answer to all of that is that I am swamped, completely underwater. I am working on work stuff for a good 7-10 hours a day, then around 5PM driving to the new house (30-60 minutes depending on traffic) and working on that until 12AM-2AM or so and then coming home (20-30 minutes) and falling into bed. My chiropractor is ready to beat me to death I think. Oh and I have Federal Jury Duty starting next week for I think 2 weeks…

So…

alive…. yes

dead…. tired yes

ok…. sorta

source code… no

house… coming along

technical stuff… what’s technical stuff? 😉

AFA… don’t care about those weenies at he moment

car… tire place can’t keep 18″ tires balanced more than 200 miles, ordered new 20″ wheels

Halo 3…  sadly no, haven’t even bought the 360 to play it yet, or the game, do have the wireless accessories sitting though

knee biter… just because ya git

DEC… allegedly, but Chicago in March does not appeal to me, no clue what we will talk about though

Tea… Earl Gray

UPN… because it pisses my friend Geoff off

AdMod/Adfind… too busy, I want to test them more and actually add some more stuff. Hold your horses or send me oodles of money.

Fired… I hope not, but I am too busy too notice if so. 😉

Backyard of current house

by @ 11:39 pm. Filed under house stuff

For comparison… It is very odd jumping between the two houses…

The more time I spend at the new house, the more I don’t want to come back to the old house. It is so peaceful out there.

Great Email…

by @ 11:29 pm. Filed under general

I love these kinds of emails…

Using your oldcmp program for the first time.  So, it was late, I was hungry and tired, and for some reason I typed ‘oldcmp……..-users -disable..’ with some other switches, and hit ‘enter’.  And then I realized it once I hit enter that I was going to disable all users in our current domain with a password age greater than 30, which I ultimately wanted to do, but not at this time cause it wasnt during our ‘change management window’.  Then, with my heart beating like crazy, I looked at the report and realized only 10 were changed and the default -safety 10 saved me!  Thanks for implementing such a great idea, for us overworked admins who do stupid things like play with this stuff on a prod network when it is late and we are tired.

I am a landowner…

by @ 4:48 pm. Filed under house stuff

Well I was a landowner before I guess, though 3/4 acre though doesn’t compare to ~12 acres. I walked around the “back” yard taking pictures and trying to find the property lines and the next thing you know it is couple hours later and I was lost. I eventually found the path again and made it back home. I took a ton of pics both inside and outside, I am going to go through and pick out the better ones and post them.

In the meanwhile, thanks to the former owners Neena, Gordon and their daughter Sarah for letting me have their home. I will try to take good care of it. I don’t know if it is normal for someone buying a house to do, but I gave them an open invitation any time they are in the area to stop by and check it out and I was absolutely sincere about it. I know there have been times I have driven past homes I used to live in that I really wanted to stop in at but I think that would be awkward just popping in if they haven’t invited you, hopefully giving an open invite removes any awkwardness for them. It is more their home than mine, they built it and spent the last 9 or so years in it which for Sarah that would be probably about half of her life.

Anyway I am quite excited by all of it. Should open up lots of adventures and fun projects. I have heard interesting things about the neighbors so looking forward to those interactions. I heard that the township is looking into deploying township wide wireless access so I let them know that I would be willing to volunteer any spare time I can find to help out with that.

Targeting ADUC on specific containers

by @ 12:53 am. Filed under tech

I recently was pinged by someone wanting to know how to target specific containers when opening ADUC so you don’t have to dive down into the hierarchy. Being the incredibly proficient GUI tool aficionado you know I immediately had the answer and forwarded it off… Well not really, I pinged my good friend Dmitri who is responsible for ADUC there at Microsoft and asked him and he responded with

You can “target” ADUC at a specific container (not user or group though) using /RDN=full-dn-of-the-container switch.
It’s weird in a sense that it auto-appends the domain DN after automatically, so it should look like this:

mmc.exe dsa.msc /RDN=OU=Users,OU=Department

This will open it at OU=Users,OU=Department,DC=domain,DC=com root.

Preparing for Halo 3…

by @ 5:07 pm. Filed under general

Today I ordered components to get ready for Halo3. I don’t have an XBOX 360 yet (haven’t even touched my regular XBOX for like 6 months) so I intend to order one of those from Amazon. Today I ordered the Wireless accessories from Microsoft (I get to shop at the company store due to my MVP award) such as the wireless adapter to connect to my wireless network as well as two more wireless controls, extra wireless batteries, and a wireless battery charger. Sadly I doubt I will be able to play Halo 3 when it first hits now though because I will be busy getting the new house set up and furnished and what not. In fact I wish ordering a new garage for the house was as easy as ordering the wireless controllers….
