So I couldn’t get sound on my HP DV8000 with the 64 bit version of Vista. There were no 64 bit drivers for the sound card and even the ones that were for other devices that theoretically should have worked didn’t. So I reloaded with the 32 bit version and while it didn’t recognize the sound card on install either, when I told it to update drivers it went out to the web and pulled them and I now have sound now.

Another note… The 32 bit version loaded faster than the 64 bit version. Took about an hour to load it versus the 80-90 minutes of the x64 version.
