Congratulations to Taylor Hicks.
I am shocked that he won but that shock started when Chris and Kim got voted off as I really didn’t expect that to happen. Once it happened it became “anybody’s game” between Kat and Taylor. Kat kind of choked up a little the last few weeks and Taylor just kept charging ahead making fewer mistakes. Honestly, it almost looked like he didn’t care if he won or not, he was there for the fun.
I think Katharine was the better singer but was just too worked up. Once she settles down into her new role it will be clear how amazing she is. I think her rendition of Black Horse and Cherry Tree blew away the version that KT Tunstall recorded and would buy it if she released it. However, Taylor is also great and an amazing entertainer and they will both do well and go forward and do great things.
The songs that American Idol had written for them sucked complete ass. I hope that isn’t going to be the quality of songs that Taylor gets given to him. If so, he needs to go get his band and do his own thing.
Kelly Pickler… What did you do with your hair??? The Wolfgang Puck sequences were a little cute and then got old quick.
Kevin Covais… you rock. I would love to see little Kevin wig out his hair in 1000 directions and start belting out a Linkin Park song.
Ryan Seacrest was just as annoying this year as the previous years, at least he got over that “Seacrest out” crap. I wouldn’t miss him if he suddenly wasn’t doing the show anymore.
Simon Cowell rocked as always.
Paula Abdul… That woman appears to be stone drunk 95% of the time and the other 5% of the time she is on something else. None of the time is her comments useful unless she is saying something bad and when that happens the contestents know they really screwed up because she always tries to say good things. Honestly I think the contestents just want to hear from Simon because while he may be rough, he at least gives them straight up unvarnished truth. I wouldn’t miss Paula from the show either, check her into Betty Ford.

I thought the American idol awards got old too. Bringing all the bad singers back was funny but it did get old.
I’m glad Taylor won but Kat will be fine. She has a bright future too.
They should have made Prince sing with the Idols. I know he has a lot of clout but that annoyed me for some reason. He was the only one who sang alone.
