Interesting you should post / I should happen to see this; I was just discussing this with some Detroit friends yesterday. Down here, most denominations are either REQUIRED (e.g. Baptists) or STRONGLY ENCOURAGED (e.g. Catholics) to tithe 10% of their income to the church. wtf? As a lapsed Catholic that grew up in the ‘burbs of Detroit that would have been unheard of. You contributed what you could, or what you thought was right. There were no “tithing police”.
