I wouldn’t advise it…

But if you absolutely must, I would set up a startup script that piped
the additional lines into the file like

echo blah blah blah >>path_to_file

This should be more than enough for most any person who is minimally qualified to be a Domain Admin to follow, at least IMO. While there may not be enough to run there is at least enough to do a google and look for more help. The response back to me was

Seriously…. WTF.

If you work for the company who is actually paying Shanthi to be an “admin”, I recommend he be fired and you review your hiring practices.

Ouch, who pissed in your Wheaties today?
Because of people like that out there, my career as a consultant is safe….

The strange thing is, he might be, for all we know, the consultant!

The sad thing is the fact that this guy even knows what a host file is means that he is better than some of the “admins” I’ve seen in my area. Remember I’m in an area where just having the right security clearance can get you a job at 70k+.

Here are some quick blaring examples
    • Admin had no clue what a hidden share was
    • Admins routinely have no clue what FSMO roles are; we are talking about windows admins who supposedly have their MCSE
    • Admins have no clue that R2 was released; say longhorn and they are even more clueless
    • Ask them about their favorite MVP…typical response, what is an MVP?
    • Simple questions, how big is your AD or sysvol

I get that people have families and don’t want to dedicate every waking moment doing this but even the basics of a google search are lost on people like you said Joe

MVP = Microsoft Most Valuable Professional ?
How does that matter if I know any MVP?
