The critical three laws…

Do you know the ever critical three laws? Do you have dreams of producing creatures like R. Daneel Olivaw? Do you have any clue what I am talking about at all?????

If so, this new SDK from Microsoft may be for you.

Microsoft has entered the robot programming fray.

From what I have been reading some of the long time robot vendors are laughing at MSFT before they say they are only looking at it from a software side and not concerned about low cost hardware… Hello… Do these people understand Microsoft’s history at all? Microsoft is probably betting on the fact that if there are easy ways to make the robots do what people want them to do, they will become more popular, and hardware cost issues will start working themselves out. There have also been some jokes about how secure the platform is and you don’t want your robot getting hacked… Well I am guessing the people making those comments haven’t really been paying too much attention… How many IIS 6.0 critical vulns have there been since its release? Contrast that with IIS5… When Microsoft is working on making a secure product, they do a decent job with it. Will they make more mistakes? Almost certainly, but overall in the next 5 years I expect them to be doing some of the best secure coding and all of the folks who used to beat on them for being insecure because they were using it as a selling feature for their product will wish they hadn’t been so strong on the beatings.
